The Blitz and Blight project ran between 2006 and 2009.
It aimed to be resource of information, images and a reference point to aspects of Britain's public realm that had caused contention within national or local politics, the media or public debate.
The project specifically dealt with places where decisions have been made, or a campaign has been led, for features of them to be either removed or somehow changed. These could be from the built environment or the countryside, and included townscape, architecture, infrastructure, wasteland, transport, public art, street furniture, graffiti and litter.
As well as an online resource for certain cities, the project also resulted in a series of photographs covering all regions of the country.
